Strategic planning (SP) is the organisation's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy. It may also extend to control mechanisms for guiding the implementation of the strategy. Strategic planning is a common management tool in big private sector companies. Increasingly it is being used in the public sector as well. Strategic planning is part of the planning and control cycle that consists of long or medium term planning (strategic planning), short term planning (operational planning), monitoring the implementation, and finally adjust the long/medium term and short term plans if need be (control).

Since some years OMSAR has been making efforts to introduce the concept of SP into the Lebanese public administration. These efforts have so far culminated in a technical assistance project funded by the EU carried out from October 2014 to October 2016. Also OMSAR has established a Help Desk function to assist Lebanese public organisations in their strategic planning practices.

This website gives access to the documents produced under the patronage of OMSAR, and to the documents produced by the EU funded project Strengthening Strategic Planning Capacities and allows the users to ask questions directly to the OMSAR Strategic Planning Help Desk.
